6 Ways to Get Your Business to Stand Out in a Crowded Online Space

With a whole lot of noise out there and a whole lot of folks doing exactly what you do, how can you stand out as a business owner?

Here are six of my best tips to get your business to stand out after working with dozens of small businesses and running several of my own:

  1. Identify your unique selling proposition (USP): Determine what sets your business apart from competitors. Focus on your strengths, whether it's a unique product, exceptional customer service, competitive pricing, or innovative solutions. Clearly communicate your USP in your branding and messaging.

  2. Put your customers first: This applies to the first time they visit and lay eyes on your website to the experience they have once they become your client. Provide outstanding customer service at every touchpoint. Respond to inquiries promptly, address concerns, and go the extra mile to exceed their expectations. Happy clients are more likely to become brand advocates and recommend your business to others.

  3. Engage in content marketing: Develop a strategy that aligns with your target audience's interests and needs. Regularly create and share high-quality content, such as blogs videos or podcasts. Providing valuable information, insights, and solutions will build the know/like/trust factor and will position yourself as an expert in your industry.

  4. Ask for testimonials: Encourage your satisfied customers to leave reviews and testimonials on platforms such as Google My Business, Yelp, or industry-specific review sites. Positive reviews build credibility and trust among potential customers and set your business apart from competitors.

  5. Track and be willing to adapt: Regularly track your online presence, including website analytics, social media engagement, and customer feedback. Analyze the data to identify areas for improvement and don't be afraid to make necessary adjustments a needed.

  6. Have a great website: Ok, you knew I was going to say that one, didn’t you? But it’s true! Having an up-to-date, easy-to-navigate, user-friendly website will serve you and your customers time and time again as they can quickly find what they need and how to access you.
